This DJ Group Will Be Your Pre-Game Heroes This Semester

Posted by

This is the first installment of a series where I hope to shed a light on artists and content that I feel deserve more recognition. This post features the artists who will define the future of EDM.

If you’ve ever been around me on a Friday night before the real party starts, you’ve probably already heard this artist. Personally, when someone asks me to DJ the pregame I usually go straight to Soundcloud. When you’re actually throwing down you wanna play hot songs that people know. When you have a crowd, play crowd pleasers (if you saw a girl’s reaction when she heard that initial guitar riff on Despacito this summer, you know what I’m talking about).

I feel, however, that getting people in the right vibe to go out consists of playing upbeat music with fun drops that you can play drinking games to. Enter, the Party Pupils.

These guys are really going to be the next big thing in my opinion. They’ve got the “futuristic” drops down to a tee and utilize this sound to remix some out of the box songs. Instead of just remixing other popular EDM songs, like most Soundcloud DJ’s trying to make a name for themselves, these guys add their unique sound to songs like “Can’t Believe It” by T-Pain, “Pony” by Ginuwine, and “Ms. Jackson” by Outkast. They’ve found a unique niche and it’s been getting them some buzz.

They recently published their first original song “Patient”, and it takes everything you like about their remixes and molds it into a great original track. They have fun lyrics you’d expect from an electronic artist along with a catchy chorus that leads into a groovy drop.

If you really want to put them on autopilot so you can focus on desperately texting girls to try to get them to come over for the pregame, I would suggest their Too Future Guest Mixes, which blend all their sounds together in a way that will make you look like a genius for transitioning songs so beautifully.

Overall, these guys really need to be put on the map and I’m looking forward to what they do next, which will hopefully include more originals. If you’re looking for a cool new EDM sound, don’t sleep on the Party Pupils.
