That’s right folks. Labor Day weekend is behind us and we’ve been blessed with another bountiful crop of Song of the Summer contenders.
Who will it be? Newcomer Olivia Rodrigo with the punky “Good 4 U”? How about the groove-tactic single “Kiss Me More” from SZA and Doja Cat? Or possibly even the upset of last summer who came back with a vengeance in 2021, Dua Lipa’s “Levitating”? Only you can decide.
If you’ve been following along with the blog’s Official Song of the Summer polls the past few years, you know the criteria already, but for newcomers, there are 3 things a track needs to be considered the Song of the Summer.
- The Song Needs to Peak in Popularity in Summer of 2021
- The Song Needs to Be Fun.
- The Song Needs to Be Widely-Known and Popular.

P.S. If you’re looking for a fall vibe, I made this playlist the other day. It was meant to be a “fall” playlist but ended up being much more like emotional campfire music that I used to love in like high school? Idk. Check it out here if you’re interested.
PPS (or is it PSS? Idk you get it. Another P.S.) I’ve been an Apple Music defender forever but I’m losing my patience folks. I made this playlist and put a bunch of songs on there with the intentions to delete songs that didn’t quite fit the vibe after the fact, like I normally do. But with their update the only way to remove a song from a playlist is to remove it from your library ALL TOGETHER. Which of course I didn’t realize till I deleted like 10 songs. So now 10 songs I like are missing from my library and I can’t remember for the life of me what they were. Which sucks. Spotify, your time may be coming if AM can’t get their act together. Also, that’s why some of the songs on this playlist may not fit perfectly, didn’t feel like having to remove and then re-add everyone. Ok, thanks for reading.
