Kanye has been going off on Instagram. My guy got tired of spewing constant nonsense on twitter and decided to pivot to the gram. Dudes dropping more pics than a sorority girl on spring break.
They range from pictures of highlighted words in the dictionary,
to people doing gymnastics(?) in his clothing line
, and text messages between him and friends.
I love how polite Kanye is in his texts. The dude will go on TMZ and rudely scream about Slavery and Opioids but when it comes to messaging friends he’s Mary Poppins.
But following this polite exchange he dropped the news that he’d be releasing a new album titled Yandhi, which feels weirdly disrespectful (despite my overwhelming excitement for it).
Based on the title and CD it seems like it’s going to be some sort of a follow up to 2013’s Yeezus, which had a lot of people upset at first, but not really me. Making a play on Jesus’ name kinda makes sense because he’s very Christian and has made music revolving around its religious themes since the beginning of his career…but Gandhi?
This little guy? It’s just weird this dude was like alive less than 100 years ago and a confirmed real man who did things recorded in history (not saying Jesus didn’t exist, the fake news media’s gonna try to send me to hell by takin this out of context). He fought for Indian independence, Civil Rights, and religious freedoms all using non-violent protests. I just feel like there are a lot of people out there who will be like, “yo Kanye, if anything you create more arguments than peace what’re you doin here? My grandma met this dude, you weren’t like him”, and Kanye will be like “HAH? LOVE IS INDIAN FOOD. I HIGHLIGHTED INDIAN IN THE DICTIONARY. THAT MEANS IT GOOD”.
Regardless of if you’re offended or not, you’ve gotta admit it’s pretty funny. Everyone got pissed about Yeezus and now he’s just back at it again but this time targeting a whole other culture. My friend Chris predicted “Yartin Luther King Jr.” is up next, and I don’t think he’s too far off. I thought it would’ve been cool if he did Yather and then the Yoly Spirit to make a trinity (or Yinity, if you will) of these albums, but I’ll settle for “Yelson Mandela” or “Yallah” or “Yuddha” or “Yother Teresa” or “The Yalai Lama”.
Even if he changed the name last minute to one of these, it’d still be heat. Get that lavender where the harsh red was in the Yeezus cover and it can’t not be good.
Not to mention he’s been in the studio basically since Ye came out. Cooking up heat with Lil Pump, Ty Dolla, 6ix9ine (whom I don’t approve of, for the record), Kid Cudi and of course, Chance the Rapper, who he also has a 7 song album coming out with titled Good Ass Job.
All this coming together AND a performance on SNL at the end of the month???
Kanye is known for performing new songs when he visits 30 Rock and I’m sure this time will be no different. Let’s hope Yandhi will lend an act as cool as Yeezus on the SNL stage.
